Taj Mahal

The Taj Mahal, in India, is made from the rock marble. Marble is a metamorphic limestone. When heat and pressure is applied to limestone (sedimentary), larger crystals are formed, making marble (metamorphic). The Taj Mahal is one of the most recognisable buildings in the world. The Taj Mahal is a mausoleum located in Agra. It was built by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his third wife, Mumtaz Mahal.



__Hawa Mahal__

external image hawa-mahal-palace.jpg The Hawa Mahal or also known as The Palace of Wind is one of the main landmarks af Jaipur. The Hawa Mahal is a five storey building made of Red and Pink sandstone. Sandstone is a Sedimentary rock. Sedimentary means all the tiny little grains settle on the bottom of a river or stream. Over time more grains pile on top and compress together forming rock. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh. It has 953 small windows called Jharokahs.
